Sil Dray is a half-elven Gloomstalker, survivor of the Veiled Cloister massacre and bearer of the unnatural golden eye claimed by the Undercrown.

Child of the Hollow
Sil Dray was born in the Hollow to an elven mother and a human mercenary father who was absent from his life. He was raised instead by the monks of the Veiled Cloister.
Even in childhood his eyes marked him as unusual: one steel-grey, the other an unnatural gold. The golden eye would later be described as a hunter’s eye, capable of perceiving what ordinary sight could not.
The Veiled Cloister
When Sil was twelve, Marauders attacked the cloister and massacred the monks who had raised him. Sil survived by hiding in a collapsed well while the only home he knew was destroyed above him.
The Undercrown later claimed responsibility for the blades that gutted the cloister and scattered Sil’s mentors. Whether every detail of that boast was true, or calculated to make Sil experience his whole life as the god’s property, cannot be independently proven.
Korith of Mirewood
Sil fled into Mirewood, where he was taken in and trained by Korith, a blind elven ranger. Under Korith he became a Gloomstalker: a hunter formed for darkness, ambush and the dangerous thresholds where civilised roads end.
The contrast defined much of his training. Korith had no sight yet taught Sil how to see; Sil possessed an eye of impossible perception whose true origin he did not understand.
Luthain and the Grey Vow
Sil eventually joined the Grey Vow. Among its members, Luthain became the closest thing he had known to a true friend since the fall of the cloister.
Luthain’s apparent death at Velnarath and return as the stolen body of the Undercrown therefore struck at the centre of Sil’s recovered life. The god had not merely taken an ally; it wore the person who had come closest to replacing the family Sil lost.
The all-seeing eye
At its reveal, the Undercrown told Sil that it had given him the golden eye ‘to guide me through the dark’. It named that gift as the all-seeing eye, one of the pieces it intended to take from the party.
It also claimed to have sharpened Sil through loss, nightmares and monsters. As with all statements made during the reveal, the claim is preserved as the Undercrown’s testimony rather than neutral history. Its purpose was not only to disclose a plan, but to persuade each hero that even their survival had belonged to it.
