The Mountain Prisoner is an unnamed parasitic power of black liquid that consumes memory, knowledge, energy and ultimately every living thing in a realm.

Name and classification
The entity never gave its name in the surviving record. The Mountain Prisoner is an archival title, not a divine name. Telson called it a parasite, and its behaviour places it among the predatory powers commonly described as parasitic gods, but no secure identification with a named member of the established pantheon has been made.
Black body
Its principal visible substance is a dense black liquid capable of reaching, grasping and moving against gravity. Near a large body of the substance, victims experience whispers, sensory suppression and memory loss. The entity searches those memories and incorporates useful knowledge.
A humanoid manifestation appeared as a tall, brutally built and sophisticated man carrying an axe. When wounded, it bled the same tar-like fluid. Destroying this body did not harm the reservoir beneath the prison in any lasting way.
Purpose
The Prisoner described itself as a conqueror that had consumed countless realms. Its cycle is to destroy all living organisms, absorb the realm’s knowledge and energy, then travel onward. It displayed no need for worship and treated mortal curiosity as an instrument rather than devotion.
Imprisonment and escape
The Venerated confined it in a pocket realm beneath a dormant mountain. Time moved differently inside: only minutes passed for its manifestation while millennia elapsed outside.
Later excavators built a research complex around the gate. Every crossing weakened the seal. The Prisoner seeped into the volcano, opened fissures and harvested the memories of creatures that fell inside. Telson’s sacrifice collapsed the most direct route, forcing it to find a much longer passage through the deep earth.
Known weaknesses
The campaign established delay, not destruction. Physical violence can kill a manifestation. Sorcerous barriers can contain the liquid temporarily. The Venerated once possessed a more complete method of imprisonment, and Telson believed the Bow of Arveria mattered enough to name in her final moments.
