The Venerated were an ancient sorcerous order capable of building a pocket-realm prison around a power that had already consumed other worlds.
Known history
Everything presently known of the Venerated comes from the testimony of the Mountain Prisoner, an openly hostile and self-interested source. It claimed the order objected to its methods of conquest and constructed a prison specifically to trap it.
The prison
The Venerated’s gate was made from immaculate black-green metal and remained untouched by millennia of decay. Its repeated script marked the structure as a prison, while a green jewel acted as both key and final part of the threshold.
The seal enclosed a pocket realm where time passed at a radically different rate. Its greatest weakness was cumulative: each new crossing tore at the boundary and made eventual failure more likely.
Disappearance
No surviving member, successor order or independent record of the Venerated appears in the campaign export. Gren had never heard the name. Jinpachi and Norri therefore set out to investigate ancient runes near Kittleton, with Vöartenstadt’s Grand Archive as a more distant alternative.
