Merynn is the Undergod of war, peace and redemption: a divine commander who teaches that strength is sacred only when it is used to end suffering.
Not while one feather of mine is still held in the world.
Nature and appearance
Merynn is portrayed as an armoured woman carrying the marks of old campaigns, accompanied by a white dove clad in delicate silver armour. Her sigil, the Armoured Dove, joins the promise of peace to the discipline required to defend it.
She is patron to generals and healers alike. Soldiers ask for the courage to finish necessary battles; physicians and peace-makers ask for the strength to repair what war has broken.
Doctrine of the Iron Dove
Merynn does not glorify battle. Her clerics are sent to spread the light by defeating demons, devils and evil gods, but are warned that violence is a burden rather than a prize. Victory is measured by the peace left behind.
Redemption is central to her faith. Those who have caused harm are not excused, but may become protectors through service, restitution and the refusal to let others repeat their sins.
Vorstag and the final feather
Merynn gave her favoured cleric Vorstag a single divine feather and promised that, while one feather of hers remained in the world, he would not stand wholly alone.
After Merynn's death silenced his magic, Vorstag carried the feather into the Lantern temple. Beneath the Heart's light, she returned for a final instant and answered his divine intervention. Vorstag destroyed the beholder as her champion; the feather then turned to ash and Merynn left the world completely.
Worship and orders
Temples of the Iron Dove commonly serve as both chapter houses and places of recovery. Their sanctuaries keep armouries beside infirmaries, and their ordained are expected to understand negotiation, field medicine and the disciplined use of force.
Her feast rites end by sheathing every blade in the sanctuary. The act declares that the purpose of war is not conquest, but the moment in which weapons can safely be laid down.
